WHAT IS LCS?

It's ironic that most of the advice available to aspirant leaders suggests that they should be followers - of role models, 'proven' strategies, or sets of principles developed from studying other leaders.

Leadership, Character & Strategy (LCS) is different. It helps leaders develop their own strategies.

The key lesson successful leaders learn is "Don't follow what other people do. Do what feels right."

The source for successful leadership strategy is not what other people have done, but what leaders believe in. They look to their own characters to find answers to the question, "What should I do now?"

Successful leaders do have one thing in common: they act with integrity. They have a coherent set of values, and it is this value set that provides the basis for their unique strategies for leadership.

LCS is an approach to leadership development that helps individuals match their leadership strategies with their individual characters. It works because it doesn't try to provide a blueprint for leaders to follow. It helps leaders achieve a high level of self-awareness. Faced with dilemmas, leaders who have used LCS don't turn to books or manuals for answers; they look inside their own characters and know what is the right thing to do.

The model and how it has been used to great effect is described in
